The aim of a good teacher is effective teaching. It yields good results and creates an understanding of new concepts. It is well planned and systematic. It follows some specific methods and employs the best available techniques. For becoming a good teacher, one is curious to know what methods are available and what are the best techniques? The question also arises whether there is some difference between an approach, method, and technique. We can describe these points as follows

Approach

An approach is a set of theories are principles that our teacher may have in mind about the philosophy of language learning and teaching.




Method

A method is a general process of creative interaction between the subject matter offered by the school and the students. It has an established sequence of doing something, we can say

  • A method is a planned effort.

  • It has an established sequence.

  • It has also an established relationship among different parts.

  • It is a way of including the interaction between the subject matter and the students.




Technique

A technique means one single procedure used in a classroom. It is a particular strategy or device used to achieve an immediate result. A method will consist of several techniques. In contrast to the method, a technique is a very limited activity that includes reaction but does not go further in a continuum. Various techniques can be used in the teaching method. According to the dictionary of education, the technique is a way of doing things that can be repeated again and again. A technique can be a process of doing things. It can be a way of manipulating things or it can be a procedure for completing some work.




Conclusion

Simply we can say that an approach is a set of theories or principles and a method is a whole And a technique is a part. The whole consists of many such parts. A method is planned the use of the technique is seldom planned.
